In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to The Widow’s Mite ministry of Minvale Baptist Church, 205 19th Street NW, Fort Payne, Alabama 35967.

Annie was a member of Minvale Baptist Church where she taught the Young Peoples Sunday School Class for many years. She worked at the DeKalb County Library from 1959 until 1985 and continued as a volunteer, repairing books for many more years.

She truly loved working in her flower garden and always enjoyed sharing what she grew with friends.

She was an excellent seamstress and made many beautiful quilts which she gave to friends also.

Annie is survived by her six daughter Carolyn Hicks (late husband Duane), Peggy Howard and husband Royce, Sharlie Harcrow (late husband Doys), Wanda Black and husband Glen, Judy Dowiat (late husband Roger), and Phyllis Carter and husband Lewis, one son John Young and wife Anna Cheng Young. She had fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was also the grandmother of choice to many others who lovingly called her “Granny Young.”

She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Lula Koger, her husband John E. Young, one son Charles Albert Young, fondly called “Sonny”, and one grandson Roger Hicks.

The family wishes to express its sincere thanks to the staff of ABC Hospice, Inc. and DeKalb Regional Home Health for your loving care and support.
