Brant Lane Craig

Mr. Brant Lane Craig, 56 of Fort Payne died Thursday July 16, 2009. Brant was born July 1, 1953 son of the late Lloyd Craig. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Fort Payne, Fort Payne Masonic Lodge # 437 F & AM. He graduated Fort Payne High School in 1971 and was a graduate of Jacksonville State University, 1976. He was serving as a Dekalb County Commissioner, had served as CEO/General Manager of Built Rite Building, Founder & Co Owner of High Cotton Enterprises, Co-Owner of the Huntsville Stars, AA Minor League Baseball, Founder/Owner of Desto Designs, Founder/Co-Owner of Soft-Touch Hosiery Inc, Founder/Co-Owner of Desto Athletic Sporting Goods. He was very active in community activities, Kiwanis Club, in 1998 & 2002 he was given the Award of Distinction, Fort Payne Parks & Recreation Boosters, Fort Payne High School Athletic Boosters, Fort Payne Chamber of Commerce, June Jam Softball Coordinator 1982-1996, Big Oak Trail Ride Coordinator, Alabama Treasure Forest Association, Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Selection Committee, National Wild Turkey Federation, Alabama Cattlemen’s Association, Salvation Army, Dekalb County, Tarcog, Tarpo. In 1981, he was voted Jaycee’s Outstanding Young Businessman of the Year, 1983,1985,1986 voted Chamber of Commerce Key Person Award. Funeral services will be Sunday July 19, 2009 at 3:00 pm from the First Baptist Church, Fort Payne with Dr. Pat McFadden and John Croyle officiating. Burial with Masonic graveside rites will follow in Fischer Cemetery. He will lie instate at the church from 2:30 until time of service. The family will receive friends at Wilson Funeral Home, Saturday from 4 until 8 PM. They request in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the Big Oak Ranch or the American Cancer Society. Sister, Sherry Craig, Tuscaloosa Pallbearers include the following, Ronnie Warren, Wes Neighbors, Terry Bailey, Tim Boone, Roger Lee, Mark Dawson, Earl Hodges and Ronnie Osbourn. Honorary Pallbeares include the Dekalb County Commission and employees and the Dekalb County Courthouse
