Clark W. McClain

Clark W. McClain, better known as “Mac”, age 95 of Collinsville passed away Monday, August 11, 2008 in Gadsden Regional Medical Center. He and his family owned and operated C.W. McClain Wrecker Service. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the southern Phillipines for 5 years, 3 months, and 21 days. He was a member of the Van Buren Masonic Lodge #355 F & AM, the Alabama Towing and Recovery Association, a retired Fire Chief of Collinsville and a retired member of the Collinsville Rescue Squad. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 64 years Mildred “Mit” McClain in June 2008. Funeral services will be 3 p.m Thursday, August 14, 2008 at the Harvest Community Center Church in Collinsville with Bro. James Adkins and Bro. Edward Matthews officiating. He will lie instate at the church from 2 until 3 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will follow in Collinsville Cemetery with full Masonic and Military rites. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 until 8 at the funeral home. The family will accept flowers or request donations be made to the Harvest Center Church, the Collinsville Cemetery, or your favorite charity in his memory. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law C.W. Jr. and Teresa McClain, grandsons Corey and Justin McClain, sisters Sue Baker and Lora Hancock, all of Collinsville, nieces Johnnie Sue Justice, Judy, Donna, Ruthie, and Angela McClain. Pallbearers will be Gary Wright, Ronnie Osborn, Carl Hood, Dennis Brandon, Hoyt McNew, Dennis Myers, and Bryan Brock. Honorary pallbearers will be present and former members of the Collinsville Rescue Squad, present and former members of the Collinsville Fire Department, present and former towing operators, and Don Matthews and Dwight Matthews, L.D. Dobbins, Bill Dobbs, Todd Graves, Billy Graves, Fred Shankles, and Floyd Gray. Tow trucks are requested for the funeral procession to the cemetery. The family would like to thank the Collinsville Health and Rehab Center for all the love, care, and concern given to our Papa and our family and to Mark Ford and the members of the Dekalb Ambulance Service for their care.
