Emma Kane Jordan

Emma Kane Jordan was born on April 13, 1937 in Rome, Georgia. She passed away on Friday, September 20, 2013 at her home. Emma was a true Southern lady who loved her family and friends very much. She was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She attended Auburn University, The University of Oklahama, a graduate of Jacksonville State University, received a Master’s degree from UAB, was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, and was a retired school teacher. Emma was very active in the community. She was a Master Gardener, a member of D.A.R./Colonial Dames, and one of the original founders and former director of the Fort Payne Depot Museum. She was a former Rotary Rose. She was a charter member of the Fort Payne Culture Club, which did much to benefit the City of Fort Payne. Emma was a former member of the Northeast Community College Foundation Board. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, William H. Jordan; her 3 children, Robert K. Jordan and wife Jana, James W. Jordan and wife JoEllen, Sara J. Muschamp and husband Pat; her 9 grandchildren, Margaret P. Jordan, William Kane Jordan, Elizabeth D. Jordan, Shelby Jordan Hughes and husband Justin, Conner O. Jordan, Matthew A. Boomershine, Mary Katherine Boomershine, Jordan P. Muschamp, and Robert W. Muschamp; her brother Robert Kane and wife Linda; and a host of dear friends and family. She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Mary Emma Kane. Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, September 22nd at Glenwood Cemetery. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends Sunday from 12 noon until 3 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Fort Payne Depot Museum, P.O. Box 681420, Fort Payne, AL 35968, the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312, or the Marshall County Hospice, 408 Martling Road, Albertville, AL 35951. Pallbearers will be Rob Hammond, Bill Mattox, Bob Graham, Judge David Rains, Larry Muschamp, Billy Johnson, Phillip Smith, David Smith, and Tim Smith.
