John William Cameron Sr.

John William Cameron, Sr., passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering faith, devoted love for his family, and a life marked by kindness, integrity, and service to others. John was a faithful follower of Christ whose greatest desire was to honor God in every aspect of his life. He felt the call to ministry at 26 years of age, and for more than five decades, he lived out his faith with humility and conviction, serving as an example to his family, friends, and all who knew him. He loved deeply, gave generously, and demonstrated daily what it means to walk faithfully with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents Cohen William and Clara Styers Cameron, and his brother Cohen Ronald Cameron who welcomed him into eternity and is now rejoicing in the promises of Christ that sustained him throughout his life. John is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Brenda Kaye Johnson Cameron, whose steadfast love and partnership were among God’s greatest gifts in his life. Together they built a Christ-centered home and raised a family that was his greatest earthly joy. He is also survived by his children: John Cameron, Jr. (Alesia); Jeff Cameron (Lisa); Jud Cameron (Lisa); Jennifer Cameron; and Madi Cameron. He leaves behind a cherished legacy in his grandchildren: Kyle Cameron (Kendra); Allie Hoffman (David); Liz Cameron; Braden Cameron (Sarah); Baylee Cameron; Chase Cameron; and Hannah Kayte Cameron. John was overjoyed by the anticipation of welcoming his first great-grandchild, Palmer Elizabeth Hoffman, who will forever be a treasured part of his legacy. Although our hearts grieve his absence, we do not grieve without hope. John’s life was a testimony to the grace and faithfulness of God, and his family finds great comfort in knowing that he has heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” His influence will continue to be seen in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and generations to come. One of John’s greatest joys was gathering around the table with his family, sharing laughter, stories, and a favorite dessert. His family finds comfort and rejoices in the assurance that, because of his faith in Jesus Christ, this is not a final goodbye, but simply, “Until we meet again.” Funeral arrangements in Tuscaloosa: Memorial Service 1 p.m. Monday, July 27, 2026 at Alberta Baptist Church (2001 University Blvd. E., Tuscaloosa, AL 35404). The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. hour of service. Funeral arrangements in Fort Payne: Funeral Service 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Wilson Funeral Home (3801 Gault Ave. N., Fort Payne, AL 35967) with burial following in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. hour of service. Flowers may be directed to facility of choice, or monetary donations may be made to the family.
